A month on… BMG Surveys Continues to Invest in Muirkirk with New Office

Local engineering consultancy BMG Surveys Ltd has celebrated the opening of its new office in Muirkirk, marking another major milestone for a growing business that is extremely proud to call the village home.

BMG was established in 2011 and has grown considerably over the years, providing specialist structural engineering and surveying services to the solar and renewable energy industry across the UK. Despite that national growth, the company has remained firmly rooted in Muirkirk, with its staff coming from the village and surrounding communities.

The company’s new home will be familiar to many people locally. BMG purchased the former Muirkirk village museum and internet café from East Ayrshire Council and has since extended and completely transformed the building into modern office accommodation, creating a new long-term use for an important building within the village.

Managing Director Bryan McGrory said:

“We could have looked elsewhere as the company grew, but we wanted to stay in Muirkirk and invest here. When the opportunity came up to purchase the former museum and internet café, we could see the potential straight away.”

“We’ve extended and completely transformed the building and I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve created. It’s now a modern office that wouldn’t look out of place anywhere and gives us the space and facilities we need to keep growing the business for years to come.”

For the previous five years, BMG operated from office space provided by the Muirkirk Enterprise Group, and Bryan was also keen to recognise the important role the organisation has played in the company’s journey.

“We owe a massive thank you to everyone at Muirkirk Enterprise Group for the support they have given us over the last five years. Having that office space gave us a base from which we could grow the business and our team, and their support has genuinely meant a lot to us.”

“Sadly, all good things must come to an end and we had simply reached the stage where we had outgrown the space. Moving into our own premises was the natural next step, but we certainly won’t forget the part the Enterprise Group played in helping us get here.”

The investment also demonstrates BMG’s continued commitment to Muirkirk and the wider local community. All of the company’s staff are from Muirkirk or surrounding villages, something Bryan says is one of the achievements he is most proud of.

“This is our home and the local community means a huge amount to us. As BMG has grown, we’ve been able to create jobs and opportunities for local people, and that is something I’m extremely proud of.”

“We’re a company based in Muirkirk working on projects right across the UK. I think that shows that businesses don’t necessarily have to be based in Glasgow, Edinburgh or one of the bigger towns or cities to grow and be successful.”

“We want young people and families in communities like ours to see that there can be good careers and opportunities right here on their doorstep. As BMG continues to grow, we are determined that the village and surrounding communities will continue to benefit from that growth.”

The new office gives BMG the space required for the next stage of its development, with further growth and employment opportunities planned as the company continues to expand its engineering and surveying services.

Bryan added:

“Seeing the finished office and knowing what this building was before makes it even more special. We’ve taken a building that has been part of Muirkirk for many years, invested heavily in it and hopefully given it another long-term future.”

“We’re incredibly proud of where BMG has come from, but we’re even more excited about where we’re going. Muirkirk has supported BMG and our family for many years, and we’re extremely proud to be investing back into the village and playing our part in creating opportunities here for many years to come.”
