What is a structural roof loading report?
Before a solar PV system can be installed, the structure supporting it needs to be assessed. A structural roof loading report confirms that the roof can safely bear the additional weight of the panels taking into account the static load of the system itself, plus wind and snow loads specific to the location and roof type.
For MCS-registered installations, this report is a regulatory requirement. But at BMG Surveys Ltd, we treat it as more than a compliance document.

Our reports deliver more
Most structural reports are produced to confirm a proposed system is safe. Ours are produced to establish the maximum system a roof can support, then confirm it’s safe.
That means we look harder at roof edge space, load distribution, and fixing options than a standard assessment would. The result is a report that regularly enables a larger system specification than the installer originally proposed with full MCS compliance and every calculation on record.
For commercial properties in particular, the difference in system size can be significant. And a larger system means better returns for your client and a more competitive proposal from you.
