DNO application & grid management
End-to-end management of G98, G99 and G100 applications for solar PV and battery storage installations. Submitted, supported, and seen through to acceptance.
What is a DNO application?
Every grid-connected solar PV or battery storage installation in the UK requires formal approval from the Distribution Network Operator (DNO) before it can be commissioned. The application route; G98 for smaller installations, G99 for larger, and G100 where export limitation is involved depends on the size and configuration of the system.
The process can be technically demanding. Applications are routinely rejected or delayed because of incomplete documentation, missing calculations, or unclear export strategies. At BMG Surveys, we manage the full process so you don’t have to.
What our service covers
Every BMG DNO application service includes
- Preparation and submission of G98 and G99 applications
- Export limitation strategy and G100 compliance where required
- Technical liaison with the DNO throughout the application process
- Management of all DNO technical queries and revisions
- Review and support through acceptance of the connection offer
Why our DNO service moves faster
DNO applications are not won or lost on the form itself, they’re won on the engineering judgement behind it. Getting the export strategy right, presenting the right data first time, and responding decisively to technical queries.
That’s where delays can happen. A small detail flagged by the DNO can sit unanswered while the project waits, and the schedule slips, but BMG Surveys ltd manage that exchange directly, with the technical knowledge to resolve queries quickly and keep the application moving.

Formal approval from the Distribution Network Operator, required before any grid-connected solar PV or battery installation can be commissioned.
What’s the difference between G98, G99 and G100?
The application route depends on system size and configuration. G98 covers smaller installations, G99 larger ones, and G100 applies where export limitation is involved.
Why do DNO applications get delayed?
Usually incomplete documentation, missing calculations, or an unclear export strategy. We manage submission and technical queries directly to avoid this.
