Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)

Fully engineered, DNO-ready single line diagrams covering generation, protection, isolation, monitoring and metering.

What is a single line diagram?

Single line diagrams (SLDs) are the schematic representation of how a solar PV or battery storage system is wired together–generation, grid interface, protection, isolation, switching, export limitation, monitoring and metering. It’s the document the DNO reviews, the installer builds from, and the document the maintenance team will refer back to throughout the system’s life.

We produce SLDs that are fully engineered, fully compliant, and ready for both DNO submission and contractor use.

What our SLDs covers

Every BMG SLD includes:

  • Generation and grid interface
  • Protection, isolation and switching
  • Export limitation and monitoring
  • Metering and control interfaces

Issued in DNO-ready and contractor-ready format

The diagram that doesn’t get queried

DNO queries on single line diagrams are a routine cause of project delay. They happen when something is missing, ambiguous, or inconsistent with the rest of the application pack. We engineer ours to a standard that anticipates the DNO’s review, not just one that meets the minimum specification.

That means clearer drawings, fewer back-and-forth queries, and quicker progression to a connection offer.

What is a single line diagram?

A schematic showing how a solar PV or battery system is wired together, covering generation, protection, isolation, switching and metering.

Who actually uses the SLD?

The DNO reviews it, the installer builds from it, and the maintenance team refers back to it throughout the system’s life.

Why do DNO applications get delayed over SLDs?

Usually because something is missing, ambiguous or inconsistent with the rest of the application pack. Ours are engineered to anticipate that review.

What format is the SLD provided in?

Both DNO-ready and contractor-ready format.
